Why Hinduism?

As previously mentioned, my origins are linked to Hinduism in many ways. Then there's also my interest in polytheistic history and how it differs from monotheistic accounts. There must be a reason why Hinduism lasted this long while other polytheistic religions were engulfed by monotheism or atheism. I am also intrigued by the fact that Hindus practice respecting all deities equally, yet they selectively worship them based on clan, caste, and geographical location. Temples are often dedicated to specific divinities, with unique rituals for each one. Interestingly, there is a hierarchy even among Hindu deities.

A prime example is Indra, the God of rain, and the King of Swarga, the heavenly realm. However, one would think that a King and a being linked to water are worshipped in abundance, yet it's the opposite. These days, Indra is the least idolized deity within Hinduism; as a matter of fact, he is considered egoistic and impulsive, as per most myths. Even the gods in Hinduism are judged based on their actions. At times, mere mortals, such as Krishna or Rama, are worshipped more than deities, linking them as incarnations of the energy of preservation (Vishnu).

That being said, these are the reasons and topics I will tackle in my blog. The world is enormous, and my curiosity about various views on history and philosophy is something I'm passionate about. Understanding each other is a start, yet one's reality is another's fantasy; we're a product of our own environment. Then the question becomes: what's right or wrong, moral or immoral? Anyway, I hope my writings can answer or at least open a dialogue, yet in the end, our free willpower defines us.
